The Weiss Company Was Founded In New York City In 1942 By A Former Coro Employee, Albert Weiss. The Company Flourished During The 1950's And 1960's, Offering High Quality Costume Jewelry With Austrian Rhinestones Of Exceptional Quality And Clarity. Its Beautiful Rhinestones Studded Figural Jewelry, Such As Weiss Butterflies, Insects, Fruits And Flowers From The 1950’s, Are Avidly Sought By Collectors. They Also Produced A Reproduction Of German Smoky Quartz Crystals That They Called "Black Diamond Jewelry. Weiss Jewelry, Which Is Just Becoming Truly Appreciated, Is Comparable To Eisenberg And Bogoff Jewelry. Some Weiss Jewelry Was Outsourced To The Hollywood Jewelry Company And Marketed Under The Weiss Name And Trademark. Without A Doubt, The Company Manufactured Some Of The Most Beautiful And Appealing Rhinestone Jewelry Of The Post WWII Era. After Albert Weiss Died, His Son Michael Assumed The Leadership Of The Company And Continued To Operate It Until Finally Ceasing Operations In 1971. Most Weiss Jewelry Is Marked With "Weiss" In Either Block Letters Or Script, And They Also Used "Albert Weiss", "Weiss NY", Weiss Co", Weiss New York", and "AW Co." With The "W" In The Shape Of A Crown Which Was Often Found On Tags And Used After 1950. Weiss Prices Are Rising Rapidly And Soon Collectors Who Have Missed The Chance To Add This Type Of Jewelry To Their Collection Will Regret Not Taking Advantage Of The Opportunity.

The brooch is in excellent condition, no missing stones! It is clearly signed Weiss on the back. It comes in the original red & gold gift tin. The brooch was purchased in Steinbach Dept. Store in Red Bank, NJ about 46 yrs. ago. It's about 2 1/8" long & about 1 1/2" at the widest point. The clasp is in excellent condition!
